August is Calgary at its best – the Stampede dust has settled, patios are full, and the city’s calendar is packed with street festivals, cultural celebrations, food fests, and fireworks. Here’s what’s happening around the city this month.

Saturday, August 1

  • Days of Yore @ Heritage Park Historical Village, 1900 Heritage Drive SW | 10:00 AM onward | Tickets: Included with Historical Village admission ($39.95 adults, $31.95 seniors, $27.95 children 3–15). A two-day celebration of living history with medieval jousting, a Viking camp, WWII mess hall food, and reenactors spanning centuries. Continues Sunday, August 2.
  • BUMP Festival @ Max Bell Centre Festival Grounds | August 1 & 2 | Tickets: Free. New murals, block parties, community activations, and artist talks bring fresh colour to the city as part of the BUMP mural festival.
  • Chasing Summer Music Festival @ Max Bell Centre | 2:00 PM | Tickets: Check Ticketmaster/festival site for pricing (unverified). An electronic and dance-focused lineup featuring Fisher, Subtronics, Armin van Buuren, Rezz, and more.
  • T2E Fest – Night Shift & Moonlit Market @ Greenview Industrial, 4001 Edmonton Trail NE | Evening | Tickets: Free. The kickoff night of T2E Fest (Tango 2 Echo), a seven-block custom-culture festival with live music, public art, and warehouses opening their doors.

Sunday, August 2

  • T2E Fest – Rides n’ Rods (Show & Shine) @ Greenview Industrial, 4001 Edmonton Trail NE | Daytime | Tickets: Free. A car and custom-culture show & shine closing out T2E Fest weekend.
  • Days of Yore continues at Heritage Park (see Aug 1 for details).

Monday, August 3 – Heritage Day

  • Heritage Day Festival @ Eau Claire Plaza, 101 Barclay Parade SW | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Tickets: Free. The Calgary Folk Arts Council brings more than 30 countries together downtown with cultural exhibits, traditional dress, dance, and food — playgrounds and a sand play area make it an easy one for young kids.
  • Heritage Town Square Celebration @ Heritage Park, 1900 Heritage Drive SW | 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM | Tickets: Free (Town Square only; Historical Village admission separate at $39.95 adults, $31.95 seniors, $27.95 children 3–15). A full day of cultural performances including Chinese music, Mexican folkloric dance, Greek dancing, and Caribbean performance.
  • Tour de Bowness Race + Street Festival @ Bowness Road NW | All day | Tickets: Free to attend (race registration required to participate). Calgary’s 23rd annual Tour de Bowness closes Bowness Road for bike racing and a street party with food trucks, artisan vendors, and live music.

Thursday–Saturday, August 6–8

  • Flashcube (Calgary Design Week East-Side Activation) @ The Confluence area | 5:00 PM – onward daily | Tickets: Free. A pop-up outdoor studio featuring groundcubed landscape architects and designers working live, part of Calgary Design Week.

Friday–Sunday, August 7–9

  • AfricFest Calgary @ Eau Claire Plaza, 101 Barclay Parade SW | Friday 5–11 PM, Saturday–Sunday 11 AM–11 PM | Tickets: Free. Calgary’s premier African cultural festival celebrates heritage through music, art, food, and fashion, with organizers projecting 10,000+ visitors this year.

Saturday, August 8

  • Urban Beekeeping Workshop @ The Confluence Garden, Heritage Park area | 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM | Tickets: Check thecconfluence.ca for pricing (unverified). A two-hour hands-on beekeeping basics workshop with Eliese Watson from ABC Bees.

Calgary’s longest-running street festival (41 years and counting) turns Marda Loop into a car-free, New Orleans-themed celebration with four stages, 250+ vendors, and the fan-favourite Pet Pageant at 1:30 PM.

  • GlobalFest: International Fireworks Festival @ Spruce Meadows, 8011 Spruce Meadows Way SW | Gates open 5:00 PM, fireworks around 9:30 PM | Tickets: GA, GA+, VIP and Super VIP tiers available via globalfest.ca or showpass.com — pricing not yet confirmed (unverified). GlobalFest moves to its new home at Spruce Meadows this year, combining the TD OneWorld Festival’s cultural pavilions and international food with a different country’s fireworks team each night: Japan (27th), Mexico (28th), Italy (29th), and the GlobalFinale (30th).
