Via Cibo Calgary 130th location review by Calgary Lifestyle Guide

If you’re in the mood for delicious, handcrafted Italian dishes served in a relaxed and welcoming setting, Via Cibo is a Calgary spot you’ll want to experience. Since opening in 2017 (we visited the 130th Avenue location), this friendly counter-service spot has been serving made-from-scratch dishes you can feel good about. Nothing is frozen, pasta and sauces are prepared in-house each day, and you can taste the difference in every bite.Via Cibo Review- Calgary Lifestyle Guide1

Why Via Cibo Is a Calgary Favourite

Step inside and you will find an easy-going, modern space filled with the aroma of simmering sauce. It is casual enough for a weekday lunch yet welcoming for birthdays or bigger gatherings. Kids are absolutely welcome here. I even saw several younger children during my visit, which made the space feel warm and family-friendly. You order at the counter, find a seat, and the staff deliver everything to your table so you can settle in and enjoy.

What We Tried and LovedVia Cibo Review- Calgary Lifestyle Guide

  • Carbonara with chicken – the star of the night. Creamy, perfectly seasoned, and beautifully presented. We would go back for this alone.

  • Italian sodas – crisp and refreshing, sweet and flavourful. We will reorder these every visit.

  • Caesar salad and bruschetta  – fresh, cheesy, crunchy, and a great starter.

  • Beer and wine plus cocktails – plenty of options, ideal for date night or catching up with friends.

  • Pasta Bolognese – really good, though the standout carbonara stole the show.

  • Do NOT SKIP Dessert – The tiramisu was absolutely delicious, light and creamy with rich flavour. The bombolini, or Italian donuts, were just as impressive – warm, fluffy, and perfectly sweet.

Next time, the pizza section of their extensive menu is on our radar. With so many dishes, there is always something new to explore.

Family Friendly Meets Date-Night Casual

Via Cibo’s relaxed vibe makes it perfect for a low-pressure date, dinner with friends, or a quick lunch with the kids. Because you pay at the counter, you skip the wait for a server to bring the bill, which keeps things laid-back and budget friendly. The ambience is fun and upbeat, and the patio opens as soon as the weather cooperates.
