Lest We Forget: Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Calgary – November 11, 2020
This is a summary of some major Remembrance Day services in the City of Calgary. You may also find smaller community-based services at the Royal Canadian Legions or community centres. Due to COVID-19 most services are online or by invitation only.
Field of Crosses
Virtually Honour those who have fallen at the Field of Crosses service. The Remembrance Day Ceremony (normally at 10:30 am) will be a virtual event broadcast live from the Field of Crosses by Global Calgary. Only those taking part in the ceremony will be allowed in the park during the live ceremony.
To see the crosses, go before November 11, or after 2 pm on November 11, but it’s limited to 100 people on the field at any one time. (Public parking is available at the west end of the park. You can also park in the area of Eau Claire and walk across the footbridge.)

The Inn on Officers’ Garden Remembrance Day
Join the Inn on Officers’ Garden, along with Chaplin Northcott, for a blessing with a moment of silence for those who have served and fallen.

The Hangar Flight Museum
The Hangar Flight Museum will be live streaming their Remembrance Day service on CTV with live coverage from 10:57 am to 11:30 am. You can watch the coverage on CTV Calgary and a live webstream at www.CTVNewsCalgary.ca. You can visit the museum in person from 1 – 5 pm. Tickets are by donation but they must be purchased in advance.

The Military Museums
The Military Museums will be holding an invitation-only service that will be live-streamed on their Facebook page beginning at 10:20 am. CTV will also be airing it, with timings to be confirmed. You can visit the museum for free, with pre-reserved tickets only, from 1 – 6 pm.

Canadian Pacific Headquarters
This Remembrance Day ceremony, which pays tribute to the more than 33 000 CP employees who served, is a private ceremony that will be live-streamed beginning at 10:45 am. The ceremony continues the company’s annual tradition of honouring veterans at CP’s Memorial Square, built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. Though the ceremony is pared down, many important elements will still be incorporated, including the CP locomotive whistle sounding at 11:01 am local time, and across the network where safe to do so, to start a moment of silence.
